We do not use lumber from Home Depot or Menards, which will crack, and check. The lumber purchased from these sources is not stainable until it dries.
We use Genuine Wolmanized Outdoor 
Wood. This lumber is Kiln dried and ready for immediate use. The Wolmanizing process includes a residential grade preservative with double mold protection and built in moisture blockers. *
